Some days ago, I posted about this announcement I got about a fic of mine being nominated for a contest.

At present, I'm a bit perplexed and not a little embarrassed because I've not found the fic actually mentioned in the list posted at the comm. I now suspect the announcement was an oversight on the part of the mods, who mistook me for another writer. Honestly, I lack the time to investigate and do not care enough for contacting the mods and clarifying this issue. My fics are there for fun, not for contest.

My apologies to my f-list and a big thank you for all the wonderful comments. It was great to live my 15 minutes of fame ! :D


Problem solved. The mods just forgot to include the fic in the list. Thank you for the invaluable help, alex ! :)

It would seem I got a nomination for Best Humor fic in the POCT fandom. :)

In the beginning there was Lord Admiral Rodney AKA the Father of all Navy Brocade. After five months, I am pleased to present you with the long overdue

Confidential letter of Rear-Admiral Rodney to their Lordships of the Admiralty, relating the perplexing Events he happened to eyewitness during his visit to his cousin Commodore James Norrington, in Port Royal, Jamaica, including a full account of the astonishing and dissolute Behaviour of said cousin, the even more appalling Behaviour of his debauched Lieutenants, the distressing Encounter with a most infamous and riotous Pirate named Jack Sparrow, an extraordinary Scene involving all of these profligate Personages, flagitiously abused Wigs, and a Pie, as well as a series of other rather odd Accidents which befell the Rear-Admiral during his Stay in the wickedest city in the world.

Genre: Humour

Rating: Nothing graphic, but NC-17 for potentially dangerous sexual practices, flagitious abuse of real British Naval Heroes, wigs, and full dress Navy uniforms; horrid mischaracterization of Commodores, Lieutenants, and Pirates; and several references to alcohol, and hallucinogenic substances.

Pairing: Gillington, Swannington (hinted), Sparrington and Sparrow/Groves (hinted), general scandalous fraternization between Navy men and Pirates.

There is a widespread belief, among us Gillington (read Norrington/Gillette relationship) fans, that Gillette fics are distinctly and sorely missing in the POTC fandom. At least, so it would seem.
But is it really so ?
While exchanging opinions on the state of the Gillington fanon, I and galadhir realized that we actually had no idea how many Gillette-centered fics there were around, nor what their prevalent rating was nor how Gillette was represented. The main cause for this is that Gillington focused archives are scant, and LJ is not very friendly when it comes to search for specific fics.
Therefore, let me present you with the first (by no means exhaustive) "Resource List for Gillington Fics and Other Fics involving Gillette as a Major Character".
There aren't the tons you will find for Sparrington, but you will see that Gillette is not, after all, a completely under-appreciated character.
